Today's top 10 industries.
One group I have been wanting to look at because they have been prominent on the new highs list is cigarettes, a 7 stock group consisting mainly of slow moving mega-caps, which is one reason why they are never in the daily top 10. One look at the charts (above are the 4 largest of the group) shows why: 6 of the 7 stocks are at or very near new highs, with only the small cap of the group, CIGX, lagging.
Not only do we have a strong 40 week average, we have short term averages above the 40 week. These stocks would normally be considered defensive, so it could be the big funds are piling into here because they don't anticipate the market going much higher.
